Trustees have decided that from 2012 onwards the use of prawn, shrimp and natural minnow baits shall not be allowed on Federation waters.
This is in the interests of fish conservation and follows the current practice on most game fish rivers.
Anglers wishing to renew a permit for 2012 must complete and send last season’s return with their application to the Head Bailiff.
The Federation no longer have the fishing rights on Harbottle water.
February 3rd.
Opening day on Wednesday saw 15 anglers at Coquet Lodge trying for the first fish. The water was in poor condition carrying snow melt and poor colour. There were no fish seen or caught.
As the week has gone on then the river levels have dropped we are now in need of a good flood. Hopefully rain is forecast for the weekend. Any events over the next few days will be recorded as soon as possible.
There have been no reports of fresh fish coming from our waters on the Tyne, only fish reported have been Kelts.
